Past Present and Future of Limassol Carnival is Here!
Studio8 School of Art & Design and Limassol Municipality as part of Limasol Carnival organise on Saturday, March 2nd at 8:00 pm, at the Cultural Center Panos Solomonidis the event “Revival of Old Carnival Plants of Limassol”. Also, rebuilt carnival floats of Kostas Mavrogenis called “Diogenes is looking for a carnivalist” and “America and Russia play marionettes “will be delivered to the Limassol Municipality.
The event is part of the carnival events of the Municipality of Limassol and is dedicated to the memory of the late artist-creator of the floats of Limassol carnival, Kostas Mavrogenis. Studio8 School of Art and Design, which is a continuation of Kostas Mavrogenis’ long-lasting offer for Limassol Carnival, will present the rebuilt floats of the artist at the event. The reconstruction is created by the son of the artist, Andreas Mavrogenis, in the same place where his father built the original floats. Like every year, the event honors an eminent fellow citizen who left his mark on the Limassol Carnival. Honorable, the famous conductor Marinos Mitellass, who for 52 consecutive years connected his name with the choir “Aris Limassol” and the Carnival. The event will be addressed by the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nikos Nikolaidis and the Cultural Officer of the Municipality of Limassol, Mrs. Skevi Antoniadou.
The main speaker will be Dr. Mimis Sofokleous, Scientific Director of the Pattichion Limassol Municipal Museum of Historical Archive and Study Centre.
The artistic program will include carnival tunes from Aris Limassol Choir, and the event will be completed with the handing over of the remanufactured floats to the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nikos Nikolaidis, in the presence of the two Carnival Queens of Limassol for 2019.
